About the Program

The AMI Assistants to Infancy (0–3) Diploma, delivered by MVEC, is designed for individuals who aspire to gain a profound understanding of and effectively support the development of children from birth to three years of age through the Montessori philosophy and approach.

Internationally accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), the program is founded on the principle that education begins in the earliest years of a child's life.

The program comprises more than 400 hours of academic study and a minimum of 250 hours of supervised observation and practicum, enabling participants to develop professional knowledge, practical skills, and a deep understanding of children's development during the critical first three years of life.

Program Content

The curriculum covers the following core areas of study:

• Montessori theory and child developmental psychology.
• The role of the adult and the prepared environment in supporting children's development.
• Medical knowledge and early childhood development, including anatomy, nutrition, hygiene, child neurology and psychiatry, and obstetrics.
• The Montessori approach for children from birth to three years, including psychomotor development, sensory development, the home and community environment, and Practical Life activities.
• Supervised teaching practice and direct work with infants and toddlers under the guidance of experienced trainers.
• Parent–Child programs, learning environment management, and community development.
• The study of Maria Montessori's writings, together with contemporary research in child development and neuroscience.

Julia Hilson

AMI Assistants to Infancy (0–3) Training Director

Julia Hilson is an AMI trainer and consultant with over 30 years of Montessori experience in the United Kingdom and Australia. She holds AMI Diplomas for the Assistants to Infancy (0–3), Primary (3–6), and Elementary (6–12) levels. In addition to serving as an AMI trainer, examiner, and consultant internationally, she currently serves as the AMI Assistants to Infancy (0–3) Training Director for training courses in Australia, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Vietnam, and Japan.

Kavya Chandrasekhar

AMI Assistants to Infancy (0–3) Auxiliary Trainer

Kavya Chandrasekhar is an AMI trainer and Montessori educator with over 20 years of experience in India and internationally. She holds AMI Diplomas for the Assistants to Infancy (0–3), Primary (3–6), Elementary (6–12), and Adolescent (12–18) levels. She is currently the Executive Director of the Montessori Institute of Bangalore, the Founder of The Montessori School and Kriyasthala, and a member of the AMI Assistants to Infancy (0–3) Training of Trainers Programme.
