Parents have shared that after some time studying in Montessori classes, their children not only gained knowledge but also showed remarkable changes in daily life. They became more independent, capable of self-care, and confident in both activities and communication.
Each step of a child’s growth is not only a source of joy but also the central goal of Montessori Vietnam Education – Tiny Flower Montessori School (TFMS). Therefore, the partnership between school and family becomes a vital factor in sustaining and nurturing the values of Montessori education.
To help parents better understand their role in supporting their children, Montessori Vietnam Education organized the first Montessori Seminar in Vietnam, titled “Helping Children Become Independent.” The seminar featured Ms. Lhamo Pemba, a trainer from the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).
During the event, participants explored key principles for applying Montessori at home — not just practical guidelines, but meaningful reminders about the importance of respecting and accompanying each child’s natural development.
Arrange household items within the child’s reach so they can use them independently.
Encourage children to do things by themselves as much as possible, offering help only when truly necessary.
Avoid imposing adult expectations or controlling children’s actions.
Respect each child’s interests and needs, giving them the freedom to explore and learn at their own pace.
Allow children to choose daily activities that match their interests and abilities.
This not only promotes independence but also builds confidence in making decisions.
Give children sufficient time to complete tasks independently. Adult impatience can rob them of valuable opportunities to learn through real experiences.
Provide opportunities for children to recognize and correct their own mistakes. This approach helps them learn from experience instead of being corrected by adults.
Montessori is not merely an educational approach — it is a philosophy of life, where children are respected and loved as independent individuals. Applying Montessori at home not only supports children’s academic learning but also lays the foundation for their character development, confidence, and social integration.
Close collaboration between family and school is the key to nurturing a generation of children who are not only intelligent and independent but also compassionate and creative.
Let children walk their own path and explore the world around them — with love, respect, and gentle guidance from their families. This is the most precious gift we can offer them.
